Last week, Blizzard lifted the lid on Diablo V, announcing the fifth major entry in the ARPG series would be arriving in 2029.
As it looks towards this next chapter, the company also confirmed "what's next" for its current title Diablo IV, which just arrived on the Switch 2 this week. Apart from the anniversary celebrations, future seasons and Amazon Class early next year, it's reportedly confirmed with PC Gamer there are no more expansions currently planned for the game.
Going forward, it's all about seasonal content for the fourth title and the team feels it had a great conclusion to the Story of Hatred. Here's what Diablo game director Brent Gibson had to say at BlizzCon 2026:
"We're all focused on [Diablo 4] seasons and getting to Diablo 5. We feel like we told the Story of Hatred. We had a great conclusion with Lord of Hatred with what we have with Mephisto, and we are moving towards telling the Story of Terror."
According to Gibson, there's still plenty of room to move as the team has to bring about the apocalypse. The events of Diablo V will happen "100 years after everything" in Diablo 4, so the lead up to this will pan out over the coming seasons. The game will also apparently be supported for a "very long time".
Diablo V is currently scheduled to arrive in Spring 2029. Of course, it's years out, so there's still plenty of time to jump into Diablo IV with the game's launch on the Switch 2 this week. The Age of Hatred Collection includes both the Vessels of Hatred and Lord of Hatred expansions. There's also the new season celebrating 30 years of Diablo.
