Developer Auroch Digital have this week announced Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is on its way to the Switch 2 later this year.
The "brutal throwback shooter" is arriving on 14th October 2026 on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, and will apparently be released "shortly after" this on Nintendo's platform. It's also been revealed the game will feature a surprise cameo track from guest composer Mick Gordon (known for his work on DOOM 2016, DOOM Eternal, Wolfenstein: The New Order).
Boltgun 2 continues where the original left off, with "unrepentant strafing action", an increased variety of killer weapons, fan favourite foes, all new enemies, and more. Here's a bit about the story, and along with this is a new gameplay trailer featuring "Ascent of the Arkifane" by Mick Gordon.
Traveling to an isolated star system to check on reports of increased Chaos activity, playable characters Ultramarine Malum Caedo and Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath soon find themselves facing the wrath of Vashtorr the Arkifane. A demigod of immense power, Vashtorr awakens a vast daemonic machine at the centre of the planet, causing a catastrophic explosion and destroying much of the Imperial fleet. Now Malum and Nyra must race from world to world to cleanse the corruption powering Vashtorr’s daemonic machinations - and to stand a chance of banishing the demigod back to the Warp.
In this new gameplay trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, Ultramarine Malum Caedo and Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath face the wrath of Vashtorr the Arkifane, a demigod of immense power. Wield new armaments and abilities in the name of the Imperium, and cleanse the cosmos of heresy.
