Nintendo and Sony’s live-action The Legend of Zelda movie seems incredibly likely to get its first trailer at the upcoming Zelda-focused Nintendo Direct.
Earlier this week, Nintendo surprised us all (well, except for insiders who predicted it) by announcing not one, but two Nintendo Directs are planned for this coming week. The second is the general September Direct we’ve all come to expect, but the first is more interesting since it will be entirely focused on The Legend of Zelda for its 40th anniversary.
There’s so much that could be shown at the Zelda Direct, but the two most obvious guesses are the Ocarina of Time remake and The Legend of Zelda movie, both massive projects for the series. The Legend of Zelda movie seems all but confirmed, as a reliable insider has claimed it will, in fact, make an appearance.
As pointed out by Redditor KekanKok on the GamingLeaksAndRumours, reliable movie insider DanielRPK has claimed that the Zelda movie will get a new trailer “next week”. With the Zelda Direct happening on Tuesday, it doesn’t take much to put two and two together and say it’s likely to debut there.
That might seem obvious, but since this is Nintendo we’re talking about, there is always a chance we’ll just get concept art or stills.
That’s not all of the evidence for a new trailer for the Zelda movie, though. Twitter user PopejoyWriter recently pointed out that a domain has been registered by Sony for the Legend of Zelda movie, which suggests marketing is going to start very soon. With that in mind, it seems even more inevitable that a trailer is coming on Tuesday.
So far, we’ve only seen some still images and production materials for the Zelda movie, so it’ll be very interesting to see it actually in action. We might even get confirmation that Link is going to speak in the movie, which would be a very big deal considering how different a take it is on the usually mute character. I guess we’ll know for sure in just a few days.
