Love Potions are consumable items that increase the spawn rates of Trolls in Valheim. Unlike other drinkable items, these cannot be brewed by players, and they can only be obtained by finding the Bog Witch NPC and buying one from her stock for 110 Coins. While it may sound like having more Trolls is a bad idea, forcing them to spawn more often by using a Love Potion in Valheim can actually be a good idea if you're looking for certain resources.
When consumed, a Love Potion will give you a five-minute buff that increases the spawn rate of Trolls in Black Forest biomes by about 25% while also increasing the spawn cap from 1 to 2. Additionally, the potion will also increase the odds of having a 1-star Troll appear instead of just a normal one. Starred enemies are stronger, but they yield more rewards when slain.
Defeating Trolls causes them to drop various items, including Troll Hide, which you can use to make a set of Troll armor. This set provides 19 Armor in total, and it increases your Sneak skill by 15, making you harder to detect when crouched.
Troll Trophies, which have a chance to drop after killing a Troll, can be used to make Mossy Fishing Bait that attracts Trollfish in Black Forest biomes. You can also use these trophies to craft Trollstavs, a magic weapon that summons flaming undead Trolls that will attack everything in the area (including you).
Lastly, Trolls drop generous amounts of Coins when slain. If you ever need to get some extra money, then traipsing around a Black Forest with an active Love Potion while picking a fight with everything you see might be a good idea.
The Bog Witch lives in a hut in a Swamp biome somewhere in a Valheim world. A cauldron marker will appear on your map as soon as you get relatively close to the witch's position.
There's no easy way to find the Bog Witch's hut — grab a Karve (or any of the bigger boats), then sail around until you find a swamp. If you're lucky, you should find the Bog Witch's location without having to leave your boat. If not, you may have to explore some exceptionally large swamp areas on-foot. Don't forget to bring a hoe, and rest up before you leave so you can manage your stamina more easily.
The Bog Witch also sells a variety of other reagents, including Toadstool for Berserkir Mead and various ingredients for cooking Feasts. Take note that this NPC's inventory will expand after you beat more bosses in Valheim.
