Double Fine is ready to make a sequel to Brutal Legend — you just have to help raise $100 million to make it a reality.
As part of its new Kickstarter campaign, Amnesia Fortnight 2026, the newly independent developer is letting its online community choose what game it creates next. Anyone who pledges money towards the campaign will be able to whittle down Double Fine's game jam creations to a few prototypes, and then one of them will be picked to go into production.
However, as a stretch goal, if it raises $100 million, then it'll just get to work on Brutal Legend 2.
"Yes, really," the Kickstarter page announces.
Obviously, the likelihood of it raising such a large amount is extremely slim. So, in reality, here's what's actually going to happen, as per the funding page:
For Amnesia Fortnight 2026, Indie Reboot: A Double Fine Productions Game Jam, Documentary, and Kickstarter Campaign, we'll be presenting a whole pile of fresh ideas, but only FOUR of them will be chosen - BY YOU - for further development. ONE of those will be chosen as the winner - ALSO BY YOU - and we'll spend some time polishing it up to become a real (small) game, published under our new label for weird little games, Double Fine Action Labs.
