Dragon Ball Super has been a series of non-stop escalation ever since Battle of Gods. It only took one saga for Super Saiyan Blue to replace Super Saiyan God as the strongest form, with the Tournament of Power making it very clear the Z-Fighters aren't anywhere close to their peak. Ultra Instinct is special, but Dragon Ball Super manga has also gone out of its way to introduce unique forms for multiple characters.
Goku will finally master Ultra Instinct in Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, but it won't be long before the likes of Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan, and Broly all catch up to him. Worst of all, a threat unlike any other is on the horizon. Dragon Ball Super 2 is not only bringing Frieza back, but giving him the most powerful form in the franchise: Black Frieza. For the first time in Dragon Ball history, the series has a villain none of the Z-Fighters stand a chance at beating.
Frieza won't play a big role in Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, only having one brief appearance explaining why he isn't crossing paths with Moro. He'll also be absent for most of Dragon Ball Super 2's second story arc, only to make a sudden appearance at the end of the Granolah Saga that'll change everything. During the final battle with Gas, Frieza appears out of nowhere, debuts a new form, kills Gas, and then defeats Goku and Vegeta while they're in their strongest forms.
Frieza then reveals that he found a Hyperbolic Time Chamber while exploring the multiverse and trained for ten years. Since Frieza was outside of Universe 7 at the time, this also meant that Granolah and Gas' wishes to become the strongest beings in the universe did not take Frieza into consideration. Now armed with his Black form, Frieza is the single most powerful mortal in the multiverse – and there's a good chance he's even stronger than the Gods and Angels. If anyone rivals Zeno right now, it's Frieza.
Unfortunately for the Z-Fighters, there aren't many characters who actually rival Black Frieza. The main cast are close in proximity to power, but nowhere near enough to actually make a difference. Black Frieza one-shot True Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta at the same time in the Granola the Survivor Saga. Granted, they've both gotten stronger since, but there is nothing to indicate there's significantly more powerful at the end of the Super Hero Saga than they were in Granolah.
If anything, there's a chance Vegeta's actually weaker, considering he doesn't even use Ultra Ego while fighting Gohan Beast. Only Goku shows notable growth, and that's mainly because he's back to using Perfected Ultra Instinct instead of True Ultra Instinct. Gogeta could potentially be strong enough to beat Black Frieza, but according to Saikyo Jump, Broly could have beaten Gogeta Blue had he regained control of his senses, so his chances don't look too good, either.
Beerus is always lurking in the background as a trump card, but there's no chance Dragon Ball Super is having Black Frieza be beaten by a God of Destruction. Frieza beating Beerus instead to raise the stakes feels more realistic. With Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Broly, and Piccolo all on the same level, they're going to need to train harder than ever and make some serious form breakthroughs if they're going to stop Black Frieza.
