We didn't know much about Bloomwalker when it was first revealed at Gamescom 2025 during Xbox's conference, other than a description of the game. Now, Level-5 and Netmarble have pulled back the curtain on the brand-new, genre-shifting entry in the beloved Ni No Kuni universe.
Bloomwalker was finally fully revealed with a new trailer at Tokyo Game Show 2026, with the footage showing that it trades the traditional RPG formula of the mainline series for cozy open-world survival, base-building, and a fascinating gameplay system centred around ecosystem restoration.
Although it may seem surprising to see Ni No Kuni completely change genres, Netmarble's experience with games like Game of Thrones: Kingsroad and Solo Levelling: Arise Overdrive does somewhat explain the switch. Based on the trailer above, rather than battling monsters, players will instead be tasked with healing the pollution-ravaged world of Luminoa alongside a sentient, mobile house that serves as both transit and a customizable pocket-dimension base.
Compared to other Ni No Kuni games like Wrath of the White Witch and Revenant Kingdom, there appears to be a substantial shift from a strict, linear narrative. Bloomwalker also leans away from traditional RPG mechanics, and is insteaed much more focused on adapting the gameplay popularised by survival heavyweights and cozy craft-em-ups like Valheim. The trailer shows the player traversing a watercolour-stylised world, and learn how to process and gather material with their helpful artisans and familiars, and look after nature spirits known as higgledies while they restore corrupted guardians.
Netmarble Neo doesn't have much of a pedigree of making games in this genre, but the trailer for Bloomfall does suggest that the team is going into it with a lot of confidence. With no release window in sight, it looks like we'll be waiting some time to see how it all pans out when the game eventually launches on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.
