Marvel Wolverine's Self-Driving Bike Chase Is Now Being Mocked

Marvel Wolverine's Self-Driving Bike Chase Is Now Being Mocked

Marvel's Wolverine has been catching a lot of heat recently thanks to a select few clips that have been shared by the media ahead of the game's release today. Not only has the game's blue "fart trail" been mocked rather brutally, but so has a few of the game's quick-time events, which you can ignore, and the game will soldier on, regardless of whether you're successful or not.

However, now that the game is here and on store shelves, this was finally the time for Marvel's Wolverine to prove the doubters wrong and for Insomniac to be vindicated in defending the title from unfair abuse online.

Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to have transpired, as yet another clip of the game has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. Posted by an Instagram user called Kindredblade_, the clip involves the game's chase sequence that has Wolverine driving a motorbike into oncoming traffic. You're tasked with catching up while dodging traffic so Logan doesn't become a smear on the highway.

The thing is, the clip that Kindredblade_ is showing doesn't have him holding the controller at all, as Wolverine slams into walls and cars willy-nilly without being penalized. He does this all the way up until the chase sequence is complete, meaning it's very possible to beat the entire thing without touching the controller. Not a great look for a game that's already being lambasted for being too hand-holdy.

You have comments in the replies to the video like "actual slop" and accusing PlayStation of making games that are "movies that have occasional button presses." It's pretty brutal, and while you can actually die during this segment if you plow into too much traffic, it is kind of ridiculous you can get through it without touching anything, even if this is Kindredblade's third or fourth attempt.

That being said, this is a set piece, and I'm pretty sure you can get past Resident Evil 9's bike chase sequence with similar ease, yet it wasn't mocked nearly as much. Hopefully, Insomniac can address some of the issues the game has in a patch or two, and maybe things like this bike chase won't be criticized as much in the future.
