Remember Abandoned, the upcoming PS5 game that sent everyone insane a few years ago? Well, it looks like it might be making a return.
As pointed out on X, the PS Store page for Abandoned — which never went away, by the way — has recently been updated, suggesting developer Blue Box Game Studios is preparing to resurface its project.
Indeed, on the PS5's PS Store, new key art shows the title 'Abandoned Prologue' and features a new character on the right. Furthermore, the release date now shows as 2027.
The description says Abandoned will be available in three versions as follows:
It's worth noting that something called Abandoned: Gospels of Blood was spotted only a few months ago, but ultimately nothing came of it, so this may not amount to anything concrete. However, it does seem there is something going on with this darn thing; whether we see it come to fruition or not is another matter.
To recap: Abandoned first surfaced back in 2021, highlighted on the PS Blog as a cinematic survival sim with impressive visuals.
I can't quite remember exactly why, but the online community hive mind managed to convince itself that Abandoned was secretly a Hideo Kojima project of some sort.
It was a bizarre theory but it spread pretty far — enough to force a response from Blue Box insisting it was not a Kojima joint.
