To build up the excitement for the first episode, the official Black Clover accounts across social media revealed new content.
On September 21, 2026, the official Black Clover X account (bclover_PR) released new official preview images featuring the main cast from the first episode. These new previews include four new screenshots from the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc. In the first screenshot, we see our iconic main character Asta in what is his first TV anime appearance in five years. Asta is seen goofing around with the Devil possessing his 5 Clover Grimoire, Liebe. This image shows that the whole Black Clover Season 2 will have darker tones than the previous installment, it will still have its fun moments on display.
In the same new post, we also get a sneak peek at the deuteragonist of the story, Yuno. Yuno is set to play a massive role in Black Clover Season 2, and the story will greatly revolve around him. We will see him power up with new abilities never seen before. Asta and Yuno aside, Black Clover’s preview images also showcase Nacht. He is currently the Vice-Captain of the Black Bulls, and with the absence of Yami, he is going to take a major lead role, which is why he is featured.

The Dark Triad are a powerful force, and he is a powerful member among their ranks. He is also one of the strongest villains ever in Black Clover, and this new preview confirms his appearance in the very first episode of the upcoming season.

To understand the synopsis of Black Clover Season 2, Episode 1, we first must remind fans of what happened at the end of Black Clover's initial anime adaptation. Nearing the end of Black Clover's weekly anime run, Yami, the leader of the Black Bulls, was kidnapped. In Black Clover Episode 167, released in July 2020, Yami was taken by Zenon Zogratis, and he is the catalyst in the upcoming arc of Black Clover Season 2. His dark magic attribute is extremely valuable and is absolutely needed to kickstart the catastrophe that is about to hit the Black Clover world. With that in mind, the Black Clover Season 2, Episode 1 synopsis is as follows:
“The Magic Knights of the Clover Kingdom prepare to rescue Yami Sukehiro, who was abducted by the Dark Triad.”
