I was a big believer in Astro Bot back when he was effectively a tech demo in PS4 game The Playroom VR.
Don’t believe me? I made a video and wrote about it all the way back in 2016 – a decade ago! Time flies when you’re having fun, huh?
It’s cool to see how far the character has come, resulting in this official LEGO set, which will be included alongside early purchases of the LEGO PS1, due out next month.
There’s currently no word on whether it’ll ever be sold separately, so this could end up being quite a sought after set.
The bundle itself has just 276 pieces, so should be a fairly simple build, but it looks really good and features a fully poseable head and arms, allowing you to display the PS5 icon exactly as you want.
The character also has interchangeable eyes, enabling you to alter his emotion depending on your mood. I think this is a lovely little touch.
In terms of dimensions, LEGO says the set stands about 20cm tall, and reckons it’s perfect for an office, book shelf, or game room. I tend to agree that this is going to look fantastic next to some other high-quality PlayStation paraphernalia.
I actually got a close-up look at the official PS1 LEGO set at the Tokyo Game Show last week, and I’ve included one of my photos above.
