Achievement lists for a frankly unbelievable number of unreleased games have been found on Steam, meaning massive spoilers are out there for games like Kingdom Hearts 4, Persona 6, Fable, and much more.
There's no other way to start this news than by warning you that it's perhaps one of the biggest gaming leaks in recent history. Yes, even compared to the GTA 6 Cyberleek hacks and the massive Insomniac Games data breach. This time around, it's all centred around Steam, which has been discovered to have viewable achievement lists for tons of unreleased games.
As of the time of writing, it's not clear how the achievement lists have been accessed, but more and more achievement lists for unreleased games have been popping up on sites like Exophase and SteamDB. What appears to be some kind of backend breach has resulted in huge spoilers for several upcoming releases, as well as entire unannounced games being leaked.
Over the past few hours, GamingLeaksAndRumours has been flooded with achievement lists for many upcoming games, which we obviously won't be sharing details on here here. These lists originate from Steam's backend, which people have been able to access through other sites to view the normally hidden lists that are packed with spoilers and unannounced information.
By far the biggest games involved in the leak are Kingdom Hearts 4 and Persona 6, two massive releases that are at least more than a year out. Kingdom Hearts 4's achievement list, if it's legitimate and up to date, reveals all of the game's Disney worlds, hints at story elements, and even shares more gameplay details that Square hasn't announced yet. This one really stings.
Persona 6 is even more surprising considering we've only had a single teaser trailer that doesn't really reveal anything about the game. And yet, we now have a full achievement list that makes the game's premise a lot clearer, as well as sharing story details and gameplay mechanics well in advance.
It's currently 5am in the UK as I write this, which should tell you just how unbelievable this leak is.
Those two are just the most surprising, as other games involved in the leak include Fable, Xenoverse 3, Mega Man: Dual Override, Stranger Than Heaven, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, and many more. There are even unannounced games related to Shrek, Nickelodeon, and The Walking Dead, to name a few.
