In the aftermath of yet another price hike, Disney has revealed next month’s streaming lineup for both Disney+ and Hulu.
Why are we talking about both streaming services at the same time? Over the past year, Disney+ and Hulu have been slowly merging their libraries. They also cost about the same as a bundle as they would as individual standalone services, presumably by design.
If you’re debating whether to stick with the more expensive subscriptions, here’s a look ahead at what you’ll be getting out of it next month. The topline? We’re looking at a new MCU series, tons of ABC show premieres, and plenty of Halloween specials.
One of the most anticipated TV streaming premieres is a new season of Ryan Murphy’s fever dream, American Horror Story. Plenty of cast members have returned for the hauntingly significant 13th season, including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Emma Roberts. In other words, expect some wacky crossovers of characters and plotlines from previous seasons.
While the first three episodes premiered on FX in late September, they won’t be coming to Hulu until the start of October. Time to get spooky.
The biggest Disney+ premiere of the month comes from the MCU side of things. VisionQuest is a new series that follows up 2017’s WandaVision, one of the most acclaimed Marvel projects in the streaming era. While we already know the series will bring back some old-school Marvel characters, cast members have been close-lipped about whether we’ll see the return of the Scarlet Witch herself.
Between last year’s Weapons and this year’s Resident Evil, Zach Cregger has been having quite a run. We’d argue that the run started with the director’s debut movie, Barbarian. We called it “one of the wildest horror films in years” in our original 8/10 review, and it’ll be finding a new streaming home on Hulu next month.
Last but not least, it’s definitely worth keeping an eye out for Halloween specials.
