Moss: The Forgotten Relic may well be Polyarc Games' last hurrah, as the developer has announced the studio is shutting its doors after 12 years.
The news broke via the Seattle-based developer's LinkedIn page, where they said their farewells and how they're "wind[ing] down active development".
"Today is the end of an era for Polyarc. After nearly 12 years riding the joyous rollercoaster of emotions that is making video games, our time together has come to an end. As we wind down active development, we are saying our farewells to each other."
It was just under two months ago that we were celebrating the great review scores for Moss: The Forgotten Relic, a console remake of the two original VR games. The studio released its debut VR puzzler Moss in 2018, and followed up with Book II in 2022.
"Working together over all of these years has been an honor. Bringing surprise and delight to those who played our games has been a privilege. Thank you to everyone at Polyarc, our work is now finished."
In March earlier this year, Polyarc underwent significant downsizing after failing to secure funding for their next major project, resulting in 30 job cuts at the time.
Polyarc has also highlighted a recruitment spreadsheet listing the affected employees, complete with contact details for studios on the lookout for experienced talent. Whilst it's a shame to see the studio go, we're sending our well wishes to the former staff and hoping to see them land on their feet.
