Developer Twin Swans has announced Hunter's Moon, a first-person horror game set in early modern Britain — when witch hunts were at their peak.
Coming to PS5 on 26th October 2026 — just in time for Halloween — the game casts you as Lilith Thorne, a woman accused of witchcraft, who must evade detection in a rural village out to get you.
Set in the 17th century, a time when real-world England was on a crusade to eliminate so-called witches, the game is all about staying out of sight over the course of one night.
The Witchfinder General, the village magistrate, and a local huntsman are all on your trail, according to the PS Blog, and you will need to use your wits to stay one step ahead and survive the night.
You can eavesdrop outside houses to gain knowledge that'll help you stay alive, and the game apparently features over a hundred fully-voiced characters.
The game adopts a stylised look with almost stop-motion animation on the characters, leading to pleasant but slightly unsettling presentation.
It's all based on reality, which is perhaps the scariest part. As someone who isn't really into horror, this looks really interesting to me; I've not really seen a game tackling this subject in this way before.
