Nintendo has officially revealed a brand-new Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller based on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. This controller was revealed alongside a special edition Nintendo Switch 2 and a Switch 2 carrying case in honor of the series' 40th anniversary. Fans can pick up The Legend of Zelda — 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller starting October 29, ahead of the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake on November 5.
Included in this latest Nintendo Direct was the official gameplay reveal for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, which showed off Young Link in Kokiri Forest and a segment of the Great Deku Tree dungeon. Other announcements for the Zelda series' 40th Anniversary included a new LEGO Link and Epona set, a new worldwide concert tour, and a pair of new amiibo figures based on Young Link and Young Zelda from the Ocarina of Time remake. However, these amiibo figures won't be released until 2027.
As part of the Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct, the company showed off a line of new hardware themed around the franchise to celebrate this momentous milestone. This new Zelda-inspired Pro Controller features one black and one green grip, gold trigger buttons, and a gold faceplate featuring Zelda's Hylian Crest. There are even nods to the original NES Zelda game on the controller, such as a pixel sprite of Link on the back. Nintendo also revealed a new special edition Switch 2 console featuring a similar design, including two green Joy-Con controllers accented with Triforce patterns.
While Nintendo is no stranger to releasing special edition hardware and Pro Controller variants, this Zelda Pro Controller is only the third variant of the Switch 2 Pro Controller that has been released so far. Aside from the base version, the only other special Switch 2 Pro Controller release was for Resident Evil Requiem. As such, this new controller will be the first special edition Switch 2 Pro Controller based on a first-party Nintendo franchise.

The Legend of Zelda series is a popular pick for special edition Nintendo hardware, and the original Nintendo Switch received a Tears of the Kingdom-themed Pro Controller variant back in 2023. New to the Ocarina of Time remake is the ability to jump with the press of a button, free camera movement in places like Castle Town that previously had a fixed camera, and a unique way to play songs on the ocarina by humming their tune into the Switch 2's microphone. Players will also be able to scan their amiibo figures using this special edition Pro Controller, making it an ideal accessory for fans planning to purchase the newly announced figures as well.
