Fallout has become one of gaming's biggest entertainment franchises since its 1997 debut, and apparently, Bethesda and its partners want to put a price on that history, up to $13,999. Indeed, this new Fallout release is a celebration of the franchise as it has expanded over the years: from the original Interplay game and Bethesda's open-world post-apocalyptic RPGs into a mainstream hit through Amazon's television adaptation.
The Fallout TV show has introduced the wasteland to an even larger audience while continuing to draw from the games' distinctive mix of retro-futurism, dark humor, exploration, and nuclear devastation, and so it fittingly has a strong presence here too. Now, the franchise is making its way into another form of entertainment as Stern Pinball has officially released its Fallout machines.
Stern's Fallout pinball brings together the video games and television series, allowing players to experience the wasteland through the perspectives of Lucy MacLean, The Ghoul, or Maximus. The machine features familiar elements including Vault-Tec, Nuka-Cola, Power Armor, Vault Boy, and the Pip-Boy, while its soundtrack and sound effects also draw from the games like Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and Fallout: New Vegas. Players can enter the Vault, search for Wilzig's head, uncover the secrets of Cold Fusion, and develop S.P.E.C.I.A.L. abilities while battling their way through the wasteland.

The bigger surprise may be how much Fallout pinball costs. Stern has released three versions, with the Pro priced at $7,299, the Premium at $10,699, and the Limited Edition at a staggering $13,999. The prices are also a notable increase over Stern's previous cornerstone releases, with the Pro rising $300 from the $6,999 price used for recent machines and both the Premium and LE jumping by $1,000. The Limited Edition is capped at 770 machines worldwide, a reference to Fallout's Great War of 2077. The Premium and Limited Edition machines add substantially more hardware, including a lower playfield, Fat Man launcher and shooting gallery, working Vault door, and Deathclaw features that aren't included on the Pro.
The machine itself is packed with Fallout-themed features designed to make the pinball table feel like a miniature wasteland. A Pip-Boy 3000 Mk. 5 LCD displays gameplay information and instructions, while the Fat Man launcher lets players take aim at Radscorpions, Ghouls, and Raiders. Players can also collect bottle caps using a vertical spinning target modeled after a Nuka-Cola bottle cap, while Stern's Insider Connected system tracks S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats and junk collected across games.
These Fallout pinball machines were officially revealed and released by Stern on September 3, following some short teasers, with the three models now available through Stern distributors and dealers. The Pro models are shipping in September, while Limited Edition machines are expected toward the end of September and into early October. Fans who obviously cannot afford their own pinball machines may be able to find and play them at arcades and similar locations across the United States.
