The Witcher 3 is quite highly regarded as one of the best RPGs of all time, and over the course of the game's lifespan, it's received some expansions which are also regarded as some of the best DLC expansions ever made. For many, it's the perfect video game, but you and me both know that no video game can describe itself as perfect and get away with it.
Even The Witcher 3's own developers don't believe that the game deserves that much praise, and lead writer Marcin Blacha is one of those people, as he recently claimed in an interview with PC Gamer that there are things he would do differently.
"For me, The Witcher 3 is not a monument and is not untouchable," says Blacha. "It is still vivid in my memory, and it is still something that is not maybe a point of reference, but something that still may be improved. When I'm playing The Witcher 3, I still find some places that I think maybe, nowadays, I would do it differently."
To be fair, I think every creative looks back on their work and nitpicks a bunch of things they'd do differently, and it was recently explained by another dev at CD Projekt Red that the weapon being added in the new expansion, Songs of the Past, wouldn't have even been possible back then. A game that released a decade ago could always benefit from modern-day innovations.
That being said, it's nice to see there are people at CD Projekt Red that aren't just happy to sit back and declare their previous work free of any imperfections. It makes me more excited for Songs of the Past and The Witcher 4 in that regard, though I'm sure if they're just as good as The Witcher 3, then not many people will be complaining.
