God of War Laufey has faced plenty of criticism since its reveal, but the man behind Kratos believes fans will change their minds once they see the finished game.
The God of War franchise has followed Kratos since its original release in 2005, taking the Spartan warrior from a bloody campaign against the Greek gods to a new life in the Norse realms, with Christopher Judge voicing the legendary Kratos since the series was rebooted, winning widespread praise for his performance.
However, the next major installment will put Kratos’ late wife, Laufey, better known as Faye, at the center of the story, with Deborah Ann Woll reprising the role as players explore what happened to Faye following her death.
This new direction quickly sparked controversy, with some fans criticizing the decision to replace Kratos as the protagonist. Following the backlash, Judge has officially backed the game and promised that “people are going to be blown away.”
Speaking during a Fan Expo Canada panel, as originally reported by Collider, Judge made his feelings about the upcoming game clear. “It’s a banger,” he said. “People are going to be blown away.”
Judge also praised Woll’s casting and performance as Faye, highlighting the actor’s history across major franchises: “She’s so beloved in so many fandoms, and man, she brings it,” Judge added. “She absolutely brings it.”
Judge is not the only member of the cast unconcerned about the response to God of War Laufey. Woll previously said she was “totally unbothered” by the backlash because she “just knows it’s great,” meaning that there are now two major God of War actors heaping praise on the upcoming adventure.
