Fortnite's Fortnitemares 2026 kicks off with a bang on October 1, taking players straight into a massive update that almost feels like a new season. Featuring collaborations like Five Nights at Freddy's, the arrival of new items like the Bone Rattler SMG, and even more Sprites for players to collect, there is a lot to uncover. That's not all, though, as this annual Halloween event also brings with it a free skin to earn. Here is how to get the Jack-a-Nape Skin and all other Fortnitemares rewards.
To unlock the Jack-a-Nape Skin for free in Fortnite's Fortnitemares update, you will need to complete a total of 26 Nitemare Quests. Nitemare Quests are tied to three modes in this update, Battle Royale, Reload, and Horde Rush, requiring you to play each one in order to unlock it. There are also six other rewards that you can unlock before acquiring the skin for free, which are as follows:
Additional Nitemare Quests will be added every Thursday at 9 AM ET. The Fortnitemares Questline will also be completable from now until Saturday, October 31, 2026, giving you just over four weeks in total to earn the skin and all other rewards for free. After this date, all the cosmetics may potentially be resold in the Item Shop at a later date.
Since there will only be 8 quests for the start of Fortnitemares, you cannot unlock the Jack-a-Nape Skin right away from day one. Given that more quests will roll out weekly, you should expect to be able to earn the skin on Thursday, October 22 at the very earliest. This is subject to change, however.
