Stardew Valley developer ConcernedApe recently posted an update regarding the status of the upcoming game Haunted Chocolatier. Although Stardew Valley fans might be eager to see what ConcernedApe has cooking for his follow-up to the massively successful indie farming sim, the developer is asking fans to wait just a bit longer, but notes that he has been very productive on Haunted Chocolatier as of late. There is not currently a release window for Haunted Chocolatier, but ConcernedApe assures fans the game will be worth the wait.
In the years since its 2016 release, Stardew Valley has become the face of the cozy life-sim genre, spawning countless spiritual successors in its wake. As a result, all eyes have been on Haunted Chocolatier since ConcernedApe announced it in October 2021, but only a few screenshots and periodic development updates have been shared so far. This latest Haunted Chocolatier update doesn't give fans too much info to latch onto, but it does confirm that the game is still in active development and coming along nicely.
In a blog post on the official Haunted Chocolatier website, Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone shared the current status of the game's development. While ConcernedApe didn't have any substantial new details to share, he is very eager and driven by the development of Haunted Chocolatier and strives to create a game that he personally enjoys playing. He goes on to say that he's really enjoying playing the game even in its unfinished state, largely thanks to some recent additions that he doesn't elaborate on.
"My goal is to make a game that I am proud of and personally enjoy. And I am certain, at this point, that I will enjoy the game when it is finished. In fact, I already enjoy playing it in its unfinished state, especially after some recent additions I made… I hope others will like it too when it’s ready."
ConcernedApe also thanked fans for their patience and support during Haunted Chocolatier's extended development time. He notes that it can be hard to keep the faith during the absence of substantial updates, but assures fans that he won't compromise the quality of the game by rushing it out too early. With how much support via post-launch updates Stardew Valley has received over the years, it's clear that ConcernedApe is passionate about his games and their community.

Alongside the development of Haunted Chocolatier is ConcernedApe's continued work on Stardew Valley's 1.7 update. This update doesn't have a confirmed release date, but will introduce game-changing features like new Stardew Valley marriage candidates Clint and Sandy, as well as brand-new farm types. However, as ConcernedApe's work is split between these two projects, it may be a while before either is officially released.
