However, the team would ideally have talent in other positions, such as an elite Point Guard to play the pick-and-roll with and some shooters to stretch the floor. The following teams are some great options for Centers at the start of the upcoming 2026/27 season of the NBA, as well as historical rosters from across five eras.
For a few seasons, the Orlando Magic have been one of the most exciting young teams, slowly building momentum led by All-Star Paulo Banchero and Franz Wagner. However, with injuries and the lack of a star Center, the Magic have failed to make that next jump in the postseason. This is where MP comes in, completing this young roster, with Jalen Suggs and Desmond Bane also being great players in the backcourt. Any style of play would help this team compete in the East that has surely gotten stronger in the off-season.
Kawhi Leonard has helped lead two franchises to NBA championships, but has looked rather jaded in the back end of his career, often struggling with injuries. However, with Darius Garland, who formerly had regular-season success with the Cavs, and MP as a star Center for the Clippers, it's quite possible for the former champ to once again compete at the top. The Clippers' current starting Center is the 38-year-old Brook Lopez, who is far past his prime, giving MP an easy route into the starting five.
After many seasons without hope and their New York rivals recently winning it all, the Brooklyn Nets could do with some help from MP. While they have Michael Porter Jr. and Julius Randle, they need a young star to build around. This would be the perfect destination for an all-around Center who can score, pass, and defend, as the Nets need everything. Aside from their two best players, the rest of the roster is very young, meaning they could start competing in a season or two. The Nets also have an abundance of picks for future drafts. All of this could make for a more realistic career mode experience, especially for those not wanting to spend money on VC to become an instant All-Star.
The Utah Jazz should be on the up with the likes of Lauri Markkanen entering his prime and newer recruits settling into the league. While they do have Kyle Filipowski, a young Center with potential, competition is always healthy, and both he and MP could battle for minutes.
Zion Williamson was once hailed as the future of the NBA, but has always failed to live up to his potential. However, he's never been on a great roster, and while that remains the case to some extent, MP could change things by coming in as an elite, young Center. The roster certainly has talent ready to fulfill a supporting role, perhaps with Flashy Passes, and Trey Murphy III at Shooting Guard shouldn't be dismissed with an impressive 85 rating. With the current Centers being 75 and 74-rated, this is one of the biggest holes to fill in the league.
