Gears of War: E-Day has finally been released, so it's time to grab your lancer, stock up on grenades, and get ready to saw some truly horrific monsters in half. While you'll spend the vast majority of the game shooting or hacking up enemies, there are quite a few collectibles scattered throughout the game's five acts.
If you're looking to snag everything, here is where to find all the collectibles during Act 1. Remember, you can always go back to any of the chapters in an Act to grab anything you might have previously missed!
When it comes to collectibles, Gears of War E-Day bucks the traditional trend of them just being COG tags you will find scattered throughout the map. Instead, these are different themed items that will provide more lore and background to the world when examined. These appear on any difficulty and once they've been collected you don't need to worry about finishing the chapter you're on.
Your first collectible will be right after you fight the first appearance of the Locust in the game. After you beat the enemies that emerge from the ground to death with melee weapons, a brief cutscene will play. Once you've regained control of Marcus, you can find the Monster Jaw right next to the body on the right, where the blue van was before it fell into the pit.
Emergence — Bloody Transit Worker's Helmet
Progress through the first mission until you are forced into a maintenance tunnel when the underground road becomes blocked off by rubble. Continue down the path where the Wretches are crawling around you until you find a small side room in the hall with a dead maintenance worker. Inside, you will find a flashlight shining on the helmet collectible you need to pick up.
Emergence — Front Page Of Kalona Times
The last collectible during Emergence can be found after you've helped the trapped civilian under the rubble. Clear out the wave of Wretches coming out of the emergence hole and then go into the building labeled "Café and Bakery." Through the door under the television on the left you'll find the newspaper sitting on the kitchen counter.
