The previously rumored Marvel's Venom from Insomniac Games is still in development, according to a new leak. Work on a Venom game as a spin-off from Insomniac Games' Spider-Man series was originally leaked as part of the massive data breach the developer suffered back in 2023. However, since then, rumors suggested that it may have been canceled, but now the game apparently still lives on and is in active development.
Venom played a major role in Spider-Man 2 as one of the game's main villains. With how popular this appearance from Venom was with fans, a spin-off starring Venom as the protagonist seemed like a natural follow-up and could serve as a bridge between Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3. Although story details surrounding this game remain scarce, many fans theorized it would follow the Lethal Protector storyline from the comics.
According to reliable leaker NateTheHate on Twitter, Marvel's Venom is still very much in development at Insomniac Games. Following the launch of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 in 2023, Insomniac suffered a massive leak of internal data, including a roadmap of the developer's upcoming projects. Along with Marvel's Wolverine slated for release in 2026, this roadmap included a Venom spin-off game planned for 2025. With 2025 having come and gone with no official announcement of Marvel's Venom, many fans naturally assumed the game had been canceled. Thankfully, NateTheHate claims that this is not the case, though did not share when fans can expect to see an official announcement.

Part of the confusion surrounding Venom's current status comes from a leak back in April of this year when Miles Morales voice actor Nadji Jeter claimed that a Venom spin-off game had been in the works at Insomnaic, but was canceled after the death of Venom voice actor Tony Todd. This rumor spread around the Marvel's Spider-Man community online, but was later debunked by Bloomberg's Jason Scheier. However, without an official confirmation, the status of this Venom spin-off remained dubious.

In the wake of the 2023 Insomniac leaks, it's clear that timelines have shifted as Insomniac has had its hands full with Marvel's Wolverine, which is set to launch later this month.
