Right, now that Exodus has had its time in the limelight at Gamescom, it's The Expanse: Osiris Reborn's turn.
The two sci-fi RPGs, both of which are quite clearly inspired by Mass Effect, have been floating around for roughly the same amount of time, leading to plenty of comparisons between the two.
But where Exodus got a confirmed release date earlier this week — and a dedicated Gamescom Opening Night Live segment — The Expanse has settled for a short and sweet gameplay trailer made up of brand new footage.
To be fair, it's a good trailer, filled with little details while also giving a decent overview of the game's mission structure.
I haven't played Exodus yet, but I have spent a few hours with Osiris Reborn via a PS5 beta build — and for me, the latter's particularly punchy gunplay is something that it seems to have over its rival.
But for games like these, it'll be the depth of player choice and the quality of their characters that truly determine their success.
