Nintendo has announced a major Customer Appreciation Sale across the US, and some of the savings are being made possible by money the company received through tariff-related refunds.
The promotion will run from September 13 through September 26, offering discounts across Nintendo Switch games, accessories, amiibo, apparel, and more. Nintendo is calling it one of its largest promotions ever.
The sale comes after tariffs became a major issue for Nintendo and its customers, contributing to price increases on some hardware and accessories. The company later sought refunds after the US Supreme Court struck down the tariffs, while maintaining that it absorbed most tariff-related costs itself.
Nintendo says dozens of digital Nintendo Switch games and bundles will be discounted by 30% during the promotion. Select physical games, downloadable content, accessories, amiibo, and apparel will also be reduced.
The deals will be available through Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Store, and participating retailers, although Nintendo says products and offers will vary depending on the retailer and sales channel.
More notably, Nintendo directly credited tariff refunds with helping fund the promotion.
“The Customer Appreciation Sale is our way of saying thank you to Nintendo players for their continued support and is made possible in part by tariff-related refunds,” the company said.
“While Nintendo absorbed most tariff-related costs, the refunds helped make promotions like this one possible.”
