A new livestream from CD Projekt Red has revealed what players can expect in terms of performance for The Witcher III: Wild Hunt Remastered on Switch 2.
Resolution is going to target 1080p in docked mode and 720p in handheld. With frame rate, you're looking at between 30 - 40fps in handheld with VRR implemented. 30 - 40fps is also the target in docked mode, and those with 120hz compatible displays can expect to lean more towards 40fps.
Additional control schemes have also been confirmed, including mouse mode and gyro aiming. You can set mouse mode to be always-on, or have it work dynamically, automatically activating when you set the Joy-Con down on a surface.
Taking inspiration from Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, you can also set various Motion Patterns, if you wish. So for example, you can raise the right Joy-Con up in the air to have Geralt whistle for Roach. There seem to be lots of different options available, so we're looking forward to testing it all out.
The livestream also contains some brief gameplay footage from Switch 2 in which several new features are demonstrated, so do give that a look if you're interested.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will launch on Switch 2 on 29th September 2026. Those who already own the game on Switch can claim the upgrade for free, with pre-orders available no via the eShop.
