As you make your way through Act 3 of Gears of War: E-Day, you'll eventually have to face off against the Corpser that's been causing mayhem across the city and was seen with Vraahk under the bridge. Unlike in previous games, however, this one can't be beaten by just firing at its exposed body once its legs are out of the way. Instead, you need to use its strength and your environment against it. Here's how to beat the Corpser boss in Gears of War: E-Day.
Fans of the series may remember that in the first game, beating a Corpser simply required you to wait for it to move its armored legs and then shoot its soft, squishy body to deal damage. While you still can't deal damage to the Corpser by shooting its legs, you're going to struggle to deal damage to it by shooting its body, too.
To beat the Corpser, you need to use the pillars around the area as cover. When you're behind these, shoot the Corpser to antagonize it and draw its attention towards you. Eventually, it will attack you, but hit the pillar, causing it to fall down and deal significant damage to the creature instead.
Once the pillar has been destroyed, you'll need to wait for the Corpser to re-emerge from another hole in the ground. When it does, look for another pillar close to it and repeat the process. Antagonize it, let it attack the pillar, and wait until its taken damage from the fallen debris.
The main thing you'll need to keep an eye out for is between taking down the pillars, you'll be joined by wretches and tickers. These pesky minor enemies are easy enough to take care of on their own, but when you get large swarms of them, they can easily overwhelm you. This is especially true when you're trying to avoid the Corpser's attacks. The best way to deal with these is to switch to the Snub Pistol. This allows you to quickly and easily melee both enemies. Two melee attacks will defeat a wretch, and meleeing a ticker will kick it away, giving you time to aim and shoot it. Just make sure that you don't shoot a ticker when it's closer to you otherwise, the explosion can kill you.
If you do get low on health, make sure to use the stim or health injector (if you have either equipped) to save you from getting downed.
Eventually, Lucas will make a comment about the roof looking like it's about to collapse. This was after three pillars had been destroyed by the Corpser. When you hear this, you'll need to repeat the process one last time to bring the roof down. I was a bit confused at this point, as I thought it might be suggesting I had to do something different. However, do the same again, and you'll eventually deal enough damage to take down the Corpser.
