As they say, nothin’ lasts forever, and we both know hearts can change, but it’s hard to hold a candle to the cold November streaming shows and movies we can’t wait to watch this month.
…Does that make any sense? Perhaps, perhaps not. But the important part here is that there are a slew of new movies and TV shows coming your way this month that are well worth your time. That includes the return of Prime Video’s big fantasy series (sorry, not Wheel of Time) which finally gets to the good stuff, a Disney+ series that has managed to lap its theatrical progenitor, and the final time we’ll get to see Paramount+’s cannibal soccer team in action.
All that plus a few biopics, an all-star heist thriller, and even one of the wildest shows Netflix has streamed in a good long time. Without further delay, let’s get into the list of our 10 most anticipated movies and TV shows hitting just like the cold November rain.
(Note: this list is presented in release date order.)
Created by Quinn Shephard — the mind behind the well-regarded Hulu series Under the Bridge as well as director of the underrated Not Okay — Netflix’s new satirical YA drama, The Body, is not based on the Stephen King story that inspired Stand By Me. It is, however, a heady mix of Euphoria, Bring It On, Cruel Intentions, Yellowjackets, and maybe The Exorcist.
It’s a “maybe” on the last part as the show is being coy about whether it’s supernatural or not, as a cheerleading squad at a Catholic school deals with an accident that downs one of their own, with events spiraling out into cult-like behavior with shades of the Salem Witch trials. It’s also set in 2004 with a bangin’ early oughts soundtrack and a slew of new talent who are likely to blow up after this show, which seems perfectly aimed at fans of Elite, The Society, and other Netflix shows of its ilk.
Those nasty hobbitses are back at it again with the latest season of the Prime Video prequel The Rings of Power, and this time — you won’t believe this — they’re finally, actually doing Lord of the Rings stuff.
That stuff includes Sexy Sauron (Charlie Vickers) forging the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom, Gandalf (Daniel Weyman) taking on a Dark Wizard (Ciáran Hinds), and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) looking even muddier and more serious than usual.
