After teasing a major update, Remedy Entertainment delivered on that promise with a brand new and massive update for Control Resonant, featuring plenty of features, fixes, and improvements. Picking up on the hit game from 2019, Control Resonant takes players to a twisted version of Manhattan where the Hiss have seemingly broken out of the Oldest House, and it's up to players to fix things.
Despite the physical edition of Control Resonant being delayed for about a month, it hasn't stopped the digital-only version from generating a lot of positive word of mouth from both players and critics. Not only did the game score well with the media, it also seems to have resonated with players as Remedy announced the game had managed to be added over 2 million times to player wishlists on Steam alone. It's also clear that Remedy has plans for Control Resonant going forward, with its first major update bringing a ton of improvements, fixes, and a highly requested feature.
The update for Control Resonant is massive in size, making an impact to almost every aspect of the game. Shockingly, Remedy also indicates that the patch notes don't contain every fix made, just the ones that it feels make the biggest difference for players, or are just funny. Remedy gave fans a heads-up back in September, teasing a few big features coming to the game and the studio has made good on that promise. While Control Resonant does feature a traditional New Game Plus feature, it only lets players go through the campaign one additional time. However, with this update, Remedy has added a "New Game++" feature allowing players to continue to run through the campaign as many times as they want.
A unique area in Control Resonant is the Unknown Zone and while players will need to unlock it before it becomes available, it seems some of the feedback that Remedy received on it wasn't all positive. As part of this update, Remedy has decreased the overall amount of combat by 10%-15%, likely indicating that fans felt there was too much happening in that zone. In addition, for those who are taking on some of the side missions in The Park, the Firebreak employee there has gotten a major buff, massively helping his survivability rate. Remedy indicates that this change in particular will likely make Reddit fans happy.
While New Game++ represents only the beginning of Control Resonant's post-launch plans, Remedy has more planned for players in the short-term. In November, presumably through another update, Remedy is planning to unleash a dedicated Photo Mode, a feature that the studio admitted has been in development for a long while and that it collaborated with talented community photographers to make sure the feature is the best it can be. A release date is still up in the air at the moment, but the feature will certainly lead to some incredible screenshots by the community.
