Techland today announced how it intends to celebrate Dying Light: The Beast's one-year anniversary, with in-game activities and a physical release on PS5.
Techland is an absolute legend when it comes to post-launch support. The original Dying Light was supported for years post-launch with a massive paid expansion, overhauls to various game mechanics, and tons of free content. Likewise, Dying Light 2 Stay Human has enjoyed numerous paid updates, mechanic overhauls, and free content since its 2022 release. So, it shouldn't be too surprising that Techland has something special planned for Dying Light: The Beast to celebrate it's one-year anniversary.
Indeed, players can expect quite a few goodies to celebrate the game. In addition, Techland is giving players something they've been asking for; a physical release.
Created in partnership with Super Rare Games, Dying Light: The Beast is getting a physical release, though only on PS5. No reason was given as to why there won't be a physical release on Xbox Series X|S.
In total, there will be three options available at launch today. The Retail Version includes just the game and a manual. The Super Rare Games Edition throws in an SRG sticker, a metallic slipcover, and a numbered SRG release. While the Retail Version will have an unlimited pre-order quantity, the Super Rare Games Edition will be limited.
For the biggest Dying Light: The Beast fans, Techland and Super Rare Games has put together an Anniversary Edition. This bundles together everything from above with a collection of physical items inspired by Castor Woods, the game's setting. It'll be available in limited quantities. All three editions are available to pre-order starting today.
Hop into Dying Light: The Beast for three weeks worth of celebrations. To help players get into the groove, Techland will host a Double XP event from today to September 21. After that, the Call of the Beast: Anniversary Edition celebration begins.
Each week will feature global community goals and weekend boons that players can vote for. Reaching weekly goals unlocks anniversary rewards, which include a unique outfit and stylish weapon. There'll also be daily Crane's Anniversary Drops that contain a new surprise each day. These range from in-game items to digital anniversary goodies. Each Friday, the drop will include an exclusive weapon to use during the event.
