Ghost of Yotei’s complete edition launches this week, and with it comes an all-new mode, Most Wanted. Yotei’s new roguelike mode will include an armor set inspired by Clickers from The Last of Us, and now Sucker Punch has revealed there will be more crossover looks for players to unlock starting October 1.
The Clicker armor was revealed early to celebrate The Last of Us Day. The armor includes a mask that makes Atsu look like one of the Naughty Dog series’ iconic undead monsters. The other three PlayStation games that will be getting their own armor sets in Yotei tomorrow aren’t quite as gruesome.
Revealed in a follow-up post, Sucker Punch has shared first looks at the other three armor sets coming to Yotei, all of which are inspired by characters in other PlayStation-published games. Those games are Helldivers 2, Astro Bot, and Journey.
The Helldivers armor is yellow and black, and switches out Atsu’s hat and mask for a Helldiver helmet. Atsu’s Astro Bot look is a little more subtle in that if you didn’t know it was inspired by someone from another game, you might not realize right away. Its color scheme, however, is not subtle at all, as it’s bright blue and white, just like Astro.
The Journey armor is the best-looking of the bunch, and the most surprising in its inclusion since it has been well over a decade since the game's release. It’s also the only armor set of the three where the preview images show the front and the back. Atsu is given a hood and a mask that make her look exactly like Journey’s protagonist, The Traveler, with long red robes to match.
Exactly how the three armor sets, along with The Last of Us look, can be unlocked remains unclear. Sucker Punch has noted that they will all be locked behind Most Wanted progression, but once unlocked, you will be able to wear them in any of Yotei’s other modes.
Most Wanted will also mark the return to the series of Ghost of Tsushima’s lead character, Jin Sakai. Players will have four characters to choose from, each with different abilities, before they embark on their roguelike runs, and Sakai will be one of them. That presumably means you’ll be able to give him an Astro Bot makeover too once that armor set has been unlocked.
Post-launch roguelike modes for its big first-party games seem to be standard practice for PlayStation now. The Last of Us got one via No Return, Valhalla was an incredibly popular addition to God of War Ragnarok, and now PlayStation will hope Most Wanted continues its run of well-received roguelike add-ons. It could certainly use some goodwill right now, considering the bad taste the decision to ditch discs has left in a lot of people’s mouths.
