So, you’ve finished the campaign again and started doing a bit of mapping in the new 0.5.5 patch of Path of Exile 2, but you don’t really have that much currency — not enough to upgrade your build, at least, right?
The thing is, doing those tough T15 and above maps requires a strong, consistent build and a good amount of currency to set them up, which isn’t exactly easy from the get-go. Luckily, in this patch, Grinding Gear Games did a pass on the Trial of Chaos, not only smoothing out all the annoyances that drove people away, but also improving it in so many more ways.
Now, this is a pretty fun and consistent moneymaker, brilliant for those who don’t have a lot to invest yet! Let’s get into it!
So, apart from all the quality-of-life changes, like time-saving features, etc., what changed with the Trial of Chaos?
Well, a few things! One of the biggest changes is that you can now run 30 rooms with a single Inscribed Ultimatum. Once you reach the treasure room, press Continue instead of claiming your rewards, then head to the red portal to enter the 11th room. This will carry over all of your modifiers, as well as the increased rarity that each one provides.
To account for this, GGG split the modifiers up, making them go from level 1-5 and diluting how much they scale. Another good thing about this change is that, due to the fact that you’re doing 30 rooms, you’ll also get a guaranteed drop of every Fate Fragment for the Trialmaster, meaning you don’t need to keep your fingers crossed, hoping for that missing piece.
Naturally, of course, you’ll need to be careful about which modifiers you choose, as the monsters within can get pretty scary as you near floor 30. However, nothing really gets close to T15 maps in reality, meaning you can do this pretty early on with extremely little investment.
Trial of Chaos isn’t affected by the Atlas, and scales by itself the more modifiers you choose. This makes it even more effective for early farming to get the ball rolling.
