Making connections is the key to success in Nivalis Nights, and that means not only making more human connections in your neighborhood but connecting to the city's other districts as well. To pull Ramen Noir out of the debt hole and make a name for yourself in Nivalis, you need to open more businesses and gain more influence from one side of this cyberpunk metropolis to the other.
One of the most important quests to help you achieve that (so to speak) is A Hacker's Guide to Exploring Nivalis, and Ava will bring it to you fairly early in the game. It's essentially the key to unlocking Nivalis' most coveted districts, but you'll still need to pull your weight to make the most of this incredibly valuable perk. Here's how to complete the quest and use your hacked visa to gain entry to the furthest reaches of Nivalis.
You first get this quest from Ava after she suggests a way to gain access to other areas around Nivalis without restrictions. Ironically, you need to act more like a tourist than a local to pull it off, along with getting in contact with the right person. In this case, the person you want to meet is Kai Galosh.
To find them, you need to take the train from Meridian Market to the Eastern Residential District. From the station, follow the stairs to the main level further up and then hang a right. You'll find Kai standing near a shuttered storefront on the left. Speak to him, and he'll reveal that Thaddeus' plan all along was to have Ava lead you to him.
After some more banter, Kai mentions that Thaddeus asked to have a tourist visa hacked for you, and that to make effective use of it, you'll need to get more actively involved around Nivalis, complete more quests and earn more achievement points. With your new visa in hand, it's time to get back to work, now more than ever.
Not to be confused with actual Steam achievements, Nivalis Nights has its own Achievement Points system that works based off your routine of activities around the city. You can earn them by completing actual achievements, sure, but more importantly, they're earned via other integral activities. These include becoming acquainted with new vendors and other NPCs, identifying graffiti and collecting postcards, completing quests, catching fish, growing crops, the list goes on.
In short, the more active you are daily, the more efficiently you'll earn those points and the tourist visa you got from Kai will let you through to the city's more coveted areas. While some districts are accessible just by traveling to them via a taxi, train, or by your boat, others are literally gatekept until you reach a certain Achievement Point threshold.
If you pull up your map and hover your cursor over those districts, a red notification at the top of the screen will say 'You need more achievement points to unlock this location'. Furthermore, you can view the number of Achievement Points you need to unlock that respective area by looking at the padlock icon above the name and the number inscribed on it (seen above).
