All Court Edicts in The Blood of Dawnwalker

All Court Edicts in The Blood of Dawnwalker

The Court is a fun mechanic in The Blood of Dawnwalker. It gives Coen goals to pursue and consequences for his actions. The goals are the quests presented there that lead Coen to Brencis' rulers, Ambrus, Xanthe, and Bakir. The consequences come in the form of Edicts Brencis issues every time Coen's Infamy level increases. In this guide, I'll provide every Edict and explain what each one means at each Infamy level.

Additional patrols in settlements mean more soldiers will roam around points of interest Coen needs to visit to complete quests. This increases combat difficulty, especially on higher settings. At this point, nobody knows who Coen is.

The military checkpoints will appear next to some waypoints and points of interest. They still don't know who Coen is, which means it's still safe to be next to them. They mostly become a problem when you're trying to complete a quest that requires killing or sneaking.

At this point, Brencis still thinks it's troublemakers who are disturbing the Vale's peace. So, he increases the prices of everything, making it more expensive to buy the things you want from merchants. If you're going to increase your Infamy level, I recommend buying everything you want before reaching level three, because the price increase does sting.

Brencis recognizes that Coen is still alive and challenging his authority over the Vale at Infamy level 4 in The Blood of Dawnwalker. The additional soldiers patrolling the roads will mostly be near waypoints, and they'll always have a commander who can recognize Coen. So, expect to fight a bunch of soldiers when trying to teleport from one area to another.

With fewer people outdoors between dusk and dawn, it'll become harder to complete quests and find merchants during that time. Keep combat-heavy quests for nights and narrative ones for the day, when Coen can speak with people. At this point, Brencis is starting to think that Coen is the source of all his problems.

Increasing military checkpoints means almost every single waypoint will have a military presence next to it. Luckily, Coen can still move freely as long as you're avoiding patrol commanders. Unfortunately, the merchants increase their prices again, which means it'll really hurt buying gear and items.

Brencis declares Coen an enemy of the state, dispatching Headhunters to deal with him. These are hard enemies with special abilities that may be a problem in higher difficulties. Additionally, all soldiers can now recognize Coen. That makes walking through cities and villages significantly harder since soldiers will keep attacking Coen there.
