A new limited-time event is live in The Outlast Trials, and it's time to find and clear valves within the Trials to claim Event Tokens that can be used in the Chemical Leak Event Catalog! If you want to get Event Tokens, or you want to better understand how this event works, then we'll explain everything below. From how you can get Event Tokens to the event-specific variators you need to know about.
The Chemical Leak event runs from Tuesday, September 8 (10 AM ET) until Tuesday, October 6 (10 AM ET).
You can get Chemical Leak Event Tokens by participating in any MK-Challenge and Trial, regardless of whether it's in the "Special Therapy: Chemical Leak" tab. The amount of Event Tokens you receive depends on the difficulty you complete the Trial on:
It's better to farm Event Tokens in "Eliminate the Past", as this is by far the quickest MK-Challenge that you can complete in under 10 minutes, whereas the Trials themselves have an average time of 30 minutes.
On the Terminal, you'll find "Special Therapy: Chemical Leak"; this will have 9 Trials in total (3 Trials and 6 MK-Challenges). These Trials are swapped out for new ones every Tuesday at 10 AM ET, and playing them is the only way you can complete the Chemical Leak Tasks (which grant more Event Tokens and rewards).
Within the Chemical Leak Special Therapy, you'll have two variators to worry about:
When you head into one of these Special Therapy Trials, you'll notice that some areas are covered in a toxic gas. Standing in these rooms will build your "Chemical" meter, and when it's full, you will gradually take more damage until you are killed or leave the room.
In order to prevent the Chemical meter from building, you must follow the hissing sound until you find a valve. You can interact with the valve and turn it all the way to the left to shut it off, which disables all the toxic gas in that specific area. However, turning the valve makes noise, so make sure you're not doing it when there's an Ex-Pop or a Prime Asset nearby!
