Mighty Mike Plays has returned to Minecraft after his father’s $118,000 YouTube advertising controversy, but viewers are now questioning whether Mike is actually behind the controls.
The channel uploaded a new video titled “my dad let me play a little today” on September 23. The 17-minute video was posted with the description, “im not officially yet but i got to play minecraft wich is cool,” suggesting Mike had been allowed to resume playing after his father took control of the channel.
Mighty Mike Plays previously went viral after Mike’s father, Dave, claimed that his son had used a company credit card to spend $118,000 promoting Minecraft and Roblox videos through YouTube ads.
The controversy has since continued to grow. Dave said he lost his job and had 30 days to repay the money, while the channel later faced backlash for selling expensive AI-generated merchandise. Dave has also threatened to sue YouTubers who accused the family of fabricating or exaggerating the story.
The new upload quickly attracted thousands of comments, with many viewers focusing on the gameplay rather than the channel’s latest update. Commenters argued that the movement, camera control and in-game decisions looked noticeably different from Mike’s earlier Minecraft videos.
Some viewers suggested that another person may be playing, while others speculated that the footage could involve an AI-controlled player.
In the previous video, “NeverMyFault made a Short about my Ad?” and “playing minecraft because yall wanted it“, Mike appears more comfortable moving around Minecraft and handling the game’s controls. The character and camera move simultaneously, and block breaking is rarely interrupted as opposed to the newer gameplay clips.
