Xanthe is the most peculiar of the three members of Brencis' court in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Unlike Ambrus and Bakir, she's not quite as loyal to Brencis as she seems and merely sees him as a convenient tool to achieve her own goals.
You can actually find Xanthe in Svartrau City's Cathedral on any given night, where you can defeat her without doing any of her activities, but I wouldn't recommend it. Xanthe's boss quest is one of the most interesting in the game, and even has the potential for a unique outcome, but only if you go through the effort of angering her first.
As mentioned, if you don't plan to defeat Xanthe and be done with it, you'll need to complete enough of the following tasks to max out her anger meter. They can be done in any order, and you don't need to do all of them to max out the meter.
You should try to be around level 30 before you finish Xanthe's quest and begin her boss fight. She's the most difficult of the three in both quests and the boss fight, and even if you plan to spare her, you will still have to fight her first.
If you want to hear Xanthe's backstory and have the option to decide her fate, you must complete her activities and wait for the boss quest to trigger. Facing her any other way will lock you out of any options aside from her death.
For this activity, Coen will need to defeat the Blood Guards. He can also choose to destroy the stash or take it, and I'd recommend the latter as it will unlock new skills on the skill tree and raise your corruption level.
