The best and hardest-to-unlock Suit in Marvel’s Wolverine, the Hellverine, has a secret easter egg that’s easy to miss since it can only be spotted in very select parts of the game.
Marvel’s Wolverine may be pretty divisive across the board, but there’s one thing that almost everyone agrees on - the selection of Suits is pretty great. Sure, there are a few obvious picks missing (my beloved Fox X-Men outfit, for starters), but the costumes that Insomniac has picked are awesome.
Perhaps the most surprising pick of the bunch is the Hellverine costume, which is based on the comic of the same name that sees Logan’s son Akihiro possessed by Ghost Rider’s spirit. It’s a bit of a deep cut, and one that takes a lot of effort to unlock seeing as it’s the reward for perfecting the Gauntlets. One special detail makes it very worthwhile, though.
As pointed out by Twitter user webz_tbh, the Hellverine skin has an exclusive easter egg that’s incredibly easy to miss since it can only be seen in two parts of the whole game. If you have the Hellverine outfit equipped while riding on a bike (which happens once in Canada and once in Japan), then it’ll light on fire just like Ghost Rider.
It’s a very cute detail and one that makes the hardest Suit in the game to unlock a little bit sweeter. As far as I’m aware from my 30 hours with Marvel’s Wolverine, there’s no other Suit in the game with a unique attribute like this, save for the Tokon and Animated costumes having exclusive claws that can’t be swapped.
Marvel’s Wolverine doesn’t even hint at the easter egg, which is a nice touch. I feel like most games would probably want players to go and see it.
The tweet highlighting the Hellverine easter egg has gone viral since it was shared yesterday, which is a nice sign of the more positive vibes that Wolverine has been seeing over the past few days. Insomniac Games even commented on it with some fitting Ghost Rider emojis, so it’s at least aware that a fun detail isn’t being missed.
