Warzone’s Black Ops Royale mode is set to be scrapped after less than a year, as it won’t be carried over once Modern Warfare 4 arrives.
Black Ops Royale launched back in Warzone’s Season 2 Reloaded update in March, bringing an entire mode inspired by BO4’s Blackout. It stripped away loadouts and the Gulag to create a more streamlined battle royale experience, but gave players access to Wingsuits and Grapple Hooks.
It was well-received by fans at launch, so much so that every time it has been removed in a playlist update, the community has rallied to try to get it back. Now, though, the devs have confirmed that the mode is about to be gone for good.
In a blog post revealing the Season 6 update, Raven Software confirmed that Black Ops Royale will be removed once Warzone integrates with Modern Warfare 4.
“Season 06 will be your last chance to play Black Ops Royale,” they said in the blog. “Get those wins in and earn your Weapon Camos before the end of Season 06!”
Although we don’t have an exact date just yet, Warzone and Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 will likely launch in November or December based on previous years, giving fans at least a couple of months to jump back in.

Given that the mode celebrates Black Ops’ history, it makes sense that it wouldn’t make it over to the next Modern Warfare era. However, the decision has still divided opinion, with many hoping that it would continue.
