While there are some games that don't work well with challenge runs, there are plenty of games out there that are begging to be completed in new and unique ways. Next time you want to challenge yourself, choose one of these games.
One of the classic games that is a go-to for most people when it comes to challenge runs is the Pokémon series. I can't nail down a specific game that is better for challenge runs than the others, but my go-to is Pokémon Emerald because I love Gen III, but I digress.
The Pokémon games have a lot of fun opportunities for challenge runs. For instance, you can try your hand at a Nuzlocke run. This means you can only catch the first Pokémon found on each route, and any Pokémon that faints is considered permanently dead.
It's a fun way to reignite your love for battling. I love to do challenge runs where I can only use a Pokémon team that consists of Pokémon from the gym leader list, but another great challenge is not over leveling or even sticking to a limited party.
