Control Resonant is finally here, so grab your shapeshifting weapon, don your FBC-approved gear, and get ready to battle some horrifying paranatural entities. Taking place after the first game, you assume the role of Jessie's brother, Dylan as he fights against the Hiss who have escaped The Oldest House.
Set in a twisted version of New York City, this semi-open-world game offers plenty of side activities, quests, and secrets to discover while exploring. This can make you wonder how long it actually takes to beat Control Resonant and do everything the game has to offer. Here's what you need to know before you decide to spend your hard-earned money on it.
If you are looking to solely play through Control Resonant's story and nothing else, it will take you around 25-30 hours to see the credits.
However, getting to the end will almost certainly take a few more hours, as you will need to complete side content to build up Dylan's power so he can actually survive in some of the endgame zones. While it's certainly possible to finish the game at around 25 hours, you'll most likely end up around 30-35 hours if you only want to play the campaign.
This is because the world increases in danger as you kill key bosses called Resonants, forcing you to improve Dylan's own power. It's absolutely possible to get to a point where the enemies are way too strong to deal with, and you'll need to return to a specific zone or mission later. To improve Dylan's power, you will need to grind for materials, unlock skill points, and upgrade all parts of Dylan's kit.
Doing so will raise his Aberrant Strength, which is directly tied to how much damage you can do in combat. Whether you want to or not, you will absolutely need to complete some additional content unless you want to struggle in some of the late-game fights.
For those looking to see and do everything in Control Resonant, it will take around 50-60 hours.
Along with additional side quests, there are a ton of audio, written, and video files for you to hunt down that are scattered through all corners of the game. There are also health and power upgrades, which are found in chests. Players will need to find three of these to increase their stats, and they are also often hidden throughout the game or are tied to completing specific secrets.
