Way back in 2013, at the height of the episodic “choices-matter” adventure game boom sparked off by Telltale Games’ success with The Walking Dead, the company released The Wolf Among Us, a new episodic game based on the Fables series of comics. It was quite the hot ticket game, even for those who had never even heard of Fables before, thanks to its interesting story and compelling characters.
With Telltale’s subsequent fall and rise from the ashes, fervor’s been high for more Wolf Among Us, and while we don’t have a release date for the anticipated second season, we do finally have one for the first season’s big comeback.
As part of Telltale Games’ presence at Gamescom 2026, the company released a new trailer for The Wolf Among Us Remastered, a visual and quality-of-life overhaul that was originally announced back in June. Most notably, the trailer finally gives us a concrete date to expect this return to form: October 29, 2026, just a couple of days shy of Halloween. The game will be available across most major platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
As you’d expect from any remaster, the core of The Wolf Among Us Remastered remains the same as the original game, plus some improvements and overhaul. It still tells the five-episode story of Sheriff Bigby Wolf, AKA the Big Bad Wolf, the appointed lawman and protector of the underground New York community of Fabletown and the various fairy tale folk that inhabit it, and his efforts to solve a series of grisly murders.
The core of The Wolf Among Us Remastered remains the same as the original game.
According to the game’s Steam page, the remastered version includes enhanced visuals and cinematic presentation, touched-up animations, more accessibility options, and general performance enhancements to bring the game more in line with modern standards. The game also features some new bonus behind-the-scenes content, such as interviews, concept art, and developer commentary.
