Big discounts on quality physical titles are such a rarity these days that, much like us, you may have got a little excited this morning if you clocked that Argos had delivered deep discounts on some of Switch 2's best games. Alas, we should have known that it was too good to be true, as the savings were swiftly snapped up.
As brought to our attention by the wonderful Jon Cartwright, the retailer had the likes of Pokémon Pokopia, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Star Fox and Cyberpunk 2077 all discounted to a measly £20 — yes, twenty pounds.
Bar Star Fox (which has a slightly cheaper RRP than the others), this was a less-than-half-price saving on games that you can pour hours into. And it's the physical edition for all of them! Sure, Pokopia is a Game-Key Card, but all of the others are proper releases.
And yet, when we went to snap up some of the savings ourselves, we were greeted by a big old "Sorry, this product isn't available" message. It only took a matter of hours, but it seems all of the games are gone.
Hey, while it's a shame to see the discounts disappear so quickly, isn't it nice to see deals like this in the current climate? Making games more accessible for everyone always gets a big thumbs up in our book, and the fact that this one offered some of the Switch 2's very best titles is only a bonus.
