Earlier today, the development team at Pearl Abyss provided an update on the status of Crimson Desert's first major DLC expansion since the game got its 'Enhanced Edition' glow-up. Originally intended to release in mid-October, the 'Charting the Unknown' DLC has now been pushed back two weeks to October 29, 2026.
As to the reason for this delay, Pearl Abyss clarified that it comes down to simply needing more time for polish. "We have determined that we need additional development time to deliver a more polished and stable gameplay experience...we know many of you have been looking forward to returning to the game and we sincerely apologize for the longer wait. We will use the additional time to further refine the content and do our utmost to deliver the best experience we can."
While development delays are never a fun bit of news to get, if Pearl Abyss's track record with Crimson Desert so far is any indication, it will be two weeks well spent, ensuring that the experience players get is up to exceptional standards.
