Lies of P publisher Neowiz has filed a trademark for a new game title: Wonders of O.
Thanks to a recent EUIPO trademark filing tied to Neowiz, we now know that the team is setting its sights on the future of the series, which will seemingly be called Wonders of O. This title gives us a hint about what the game could be about, and it follows on nicely from 2023's Lies of P.
The filing uses standard classifications which are consistent with other video game trademarks that can be found on the site. Filing these trademarks is usually the first step before a formal announcement of a game. And while the trademark is indeed for the South Korean-based Neowiz, whether it will be working again with developer Round8 Studio has yet to be confirmed.
I see no reason why it wouldn't, as the first game was well-received. Overall, it's a standout dark fantasy game with a surprising amount of polish even on the Nintendo Switch versions. The publisher must believe so, or else they wouldn't have put the main character front and center when visiting its website.
As for the title itself, Wonders of O is almost definitely a reference to The Wizard of Oz. Anyone who has beaten the original game will not be surprised by this, but I'll delve into spoilers below.
Upon the completion of Lies of P, there was a tease for an upcoming Oz-related game. The tease is most certainly our first real look at what we could possibly expect from Wonders of O, and was only available to those who completed a laundry list of requirements. Could it be too hard to imagine Dorothy and her ruby slippers clicking together and showing up at The Game Awards later this December?
Neowiz has been active in scaling indie hits into larger franchises, with hits like Pentavision's DJMax series and the Bless Online MMO projects, it has handled publishing and localization in the video game industry since 2007. Its involvement means that, regardless of which developer brings Dorothy to players, the follow‑up is likely to receive a whirlwind multi‑platform push and ongoing DLC support.
