RuneScape is expanding again to a historic scale. Jagex has launched Havenhythe Part II, the second half of what is now the largest area expansion in the MMO’s twenty‑five-year history. The update, available today exclusively for members, adds four new explorable zones, a climactic battle against the rising Sanguine threat, fresh skilling activities, and a standalone Bangolin quest that builds on the story introduced earlier this year.
The studio titled its official trailer “The Sanguine is taking hold,” and the footage makes it clear why. Havenhythe sits east of Morytania as a massive new landmass, filled with quests, bosses, gathering opportunities, and narrative beats that were first introduced when Part I arrived on March 23. Jagex has designed the region as a recurring destination rather than a one‑and‑done chapter, giving players reasons to return as the storyline evolves.
“Dangerous Beasts and Powerful Rewards” Push Havenhythe’s Story Toward Closure
To access everything in Part II, players will need to meet several skill requirements. The finale unlocks after completing Secrets of Amberfell, along with reaching 51 Crafting, 55 Herblore, 65 Mining, and 60 Smithing. The new mining activity requires 65 Mining and 51 Crafting. Those who push through will find a set of rewards that includes an ultra‑rare best‑in‑slot hatchet, Bogolin Pearls for upgrades, Chima Moss Spools for stackable bowstrings, and new tools like the Bogolin Knife and Torch. The update also introduces new sources of standard rune essence.
For me, RuneScape’s longevity is reflected in how it was the first MMO I ever played, a proof of life for free‑to‑play online worlds that still runs strong. RuneScape is an accessible MMO experience with care, polish, and a constant stream of updates that keep its community thriving. That same community support is a big part of why the franchise is strong enough to have its own survival fantasy spinoff, Dragonwilds, which is already a hit across major platforms.
Seeing Havenhythe grow into RuneScape’s biggest expansion, and the community responding so eagerly, makes me want to desperately see if I can mingle with long-running fans and catch up with how things have been.
