Deltarune Chapter 5 was advertised as 'the last fun adventure' before the plot really starts to hit the fan, and for most of its run, it holds to that promise. Chapter 5 is a beautiful, hilarious little quest that strengthens each character, but Toby Fox clearly can't help maintaining the intrigue. From hidden scares to odd villain characterization, Chapter 5 manages to pump up the charm while introducing even stranger questions.

Here, 'the incident' refers to the inciting incident of much of Deltarune's melancholy, as mentioned by Asgore at the chapter's climax. The community has had a basic understanding of this event as the day Dess, Noelle's mysterious sister, vanished. Finally cornering Asgore was the moment we were supposed to get a concrete understanding of this event, and yet here we stand, with no real information at all.
Probably the most hotly debated topic of Deltarune since its launch has been the identity of the mysterious Roaring Knight. Even when we only heard about them through reverent whispers, they're moved in the shadows as a force of nature. Once we met them in Chapter 3, one of their most notable traits is just how childish they are, a fact many seem to miss.
The Roaring Knight is cocky, quick to anger, and shockingly easy to trick into mistakes. Chapter 5 makes this especially notable, as not only does the Knight take the time to stop and battle Flowery after being accosted, they're tricked into crashing during their escape by his teasing, and as early as Chapter 3 they lash out violently at Susie's insults. This immaturity wipes certain Knight theories by the wayside. I can't really imagine Rudy or Carol acting this childishly, for example, while adding some much-needed characterization to our faceless foe, sure to be followed up on in Chapter 6.
The Flowers, the major supportive cast of Chapter 5, have led to a very interesting new rule when it comes to living things trapped in Dark Worlds. As we knew the rules, Darkners and Lightners were right down the middle, with living individuals gaining new forms and abilities, while inanimate objects gained sentience. Chapter 4 clarified that an object surrounded by a Lightner's essence could essentially revive the Lightner as a Darkner, but that still followed the formula.
Now, with plants seemingly counting as both, gaining the memory of their real world forms like Darkners, while gaining the ability to participate in battles and influence parts of the world directly like Lightners. The climax of Chapter 5 focused on the unique nature of these Plant forms extensively, leading to further speculation on Ralsei's true form. After all, he's going to need to reach the Bunker if he wants to help in the story's final hours, and the only things that may reach that far are the roots of the trees that surround Hometown.
