Last night, we covered the initial rollout of the Xbox Disc to Digital feature for Xbox Insiders and how fans were building lists of supported and non-supported games, and they've also discovered some interesting surprises along the way.
One of the big ones here is that multiple delisted titles on the Xbox Store are redeemable when you insert the disc in, although not in all cases. Here are just a few examples of delisted games that are definitely working right now:
Another major surprise here is that Xbox Series X discs appear to be working when inserted into an Xbox One console. You obviously can't play those games on the Xbox One itself, but inserting the disc will give you a digital license that can be played across Series X or the Series S.
This sounds perfect if you're an Xbox Series S owner who still has an old Xbox One console lying around, as it means you should be able to convert most of your physical library into digital form to play on the newer system.
It's perhaps also quite surprising that a lot of games from certain publishers aren't working with the Disc to Digital feature as things stand. For example, the likes of SEGA and Square Enix don't appear to be participating in it at all right now, and even a bunch of Xbox first-party titles aren't supported including multiple Forza Horizon titles.
The good news is that this is just the start, and Xbox has already said that more games will be added to the Disc to Digital program in the future, potentially even during the Xbox Insider testing period.
We'll have to wait and see how that pans out, but for now, initial feedback is still very positive for this crazy new feature! Hopefully more people will get a chance to try it soon, with a wider rollout set to arrive in the coming weeks / months.
