The Jujutsu Kaisen franchise has continued expanding beyond Gege Akutami's original manga, with the series now spanning anime, movies, games, and other projects, but its newest release has been delayed well into 2027. As unfortunate as that is, it's important that Jujutsu Kaisen focuses on quality over speed.
After all, the Jujutsu Kaisen anime is also preparing to continue its story, with a fourth season in production at MAPPA that will move further into the Culling Game storyline. That's only one item in the pipeline, though. As Jujutsu Kaisen continues to grow across different forms of media, one upcoming game is taking the series in a new direction by combining its characters and supernatural battles with a popular survival game format.
Said survival game comes from Shueisha Games and poncle, the studio behind Vampire Survivors. While Vampire Survivors is built around fighting increasingly large groups of enemies and surviving for as long as possible, the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen game puts that formula into a multiplayer setting based on Akutami's series. Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton was originally scheduled to launch on consoles and PC sometime in 2026, but that release window has now changed. Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton has been delayed to 2027.
Shueisha Games announced the delay through the game's official Steam page, explaining that the additional development time is being used to deliver the best possible "survivors royale experience" and meet player expectations for the unique survival game. The developer did not provide a specific release date for Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton, so the game is currently only confirmed for sometime next year.
When Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton does arrive, it will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X. A new trailer has also provided a look at eight bosses that players can expect to encounter, including Naoya Zenin, Kenjaku, Junpei Yoshino, Jogo, Mahito, Uraume, Eso, and Toji Fushiguro. The trailer gives a better idea of the enemies Shueisha Games and poncle are bringing into the multiplayer survival experience.
Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton is also set to get its first public playtest soon. The game will have a world-first playtest at Tokyo Game Show 2026 later this week, giving attendees an early opportunity to see how the multiplayer survival format works in practice.
The delay gives Shueisha Games and poncle more time to develop Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton, while the Jujutsu Kaisen franchise itself continues moving forward. The fourth season of the anime is currently in production at MAPPA and will continue the Culling Game storyline, following the first three seasons and Jujutsu Kaisen 0. For now, the Tokyo Game Show playtest will be the next major opportunity to see what the game has in store (and how closely its survival format fits the Jujutsu Kaisen universe).
